Standard versions of windows only support up to 2 CPUs and 2TB of memory but Recently Microsoft announced a new version of Windows 10 which created based on feedback from Windows 10 “Insiders” who test-drive pre-release versions of the operating system. Windows 10 Pro for workstation will feature Microsoft’s server grade file system(Resilient File System),support for high-end hardware with up to 4CPUs and 6Tb of memory and support for faster file sharing as well as support for Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron processors. It specially focuses on professional users who are waiting for high end hardware to support mission-critical workload.
The Resilient File System (ReFS) provides an extra level of data availability and resilience and fault-tolerance. It is possible to manage high volumes of data and automatically repairs errors when data on one of the backup drives becomes corrupted.
“We know that power users have unique needs to run efficiently and we take the feedback we hear seriously,” said Klaus Diaconu, partner group program manager for Microsoft’s Windows & Devices Group. That is how they expressed their attitude about this amazing product.
- Microsoft standard NTFS is possible only to handle volumes of up to 256TB.
- RESF is possible to manage 4.7 zettabytes which amount of nearly billion terabytes and 8 million years of 8K videos that not something anybody never need.
In a separate tweet, Tero Alhonen listed 10 variants of Windows 10:
Home Mobile Enterprise
Education Pro for Business
IoT Pro for Workstations
Important facts in briefly
ReFs (Resilientile System)-ReFs is designed to be resilient to data corruption, optimized for handling large data volumes, autocorrecting and more. It can protect data with integrity streams on mirrored storage spaces. Using its integrity streams, ReFS detects when data becomes corrupt on one of the mirrored drives and uses a healthy copy of the data on the drive to correct it.
Persistent memory- Windows 10 Pro for workstations provides the most demanding apps and data with the performance they require with non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) hardware. NVDIMM-N enables reading and writing files with the fastest speed possible, the speed of the computer’s main memory.
Faster file sharing- Windows 10 Pro for workstations includes a feature called SMB direct, which support the use of network adapters that have Remote Direct Memory Access(RDMA) capability. Network adapters that have RDMA can function at full speed with very low latency, while using very little CPU.
Windows 10 Pro for workstations will be delivered as part of the Fall creators update, available this fall.
This is how amazing Windows 10 Pro is.Try and enjoy it.See you again in another new article.
